LTC Partners Welcomes USS New Hampshire Commander and Crew CEO Paul Forte Presents Commander Jason Weed with Plaque of Appreciation
Portsmouth, NH: Federal benefits administrator LTC Partners hosted the commanding officer, Cmdr. Jason Weed, and 11 crew members from the USS New Hampshire (SSN 778), a Virginia-class submarine, at its corporate offices on July 20.
LTC Partners manages two large federal government contracts, the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program, and BENEFEDS, an electronic marketplace for federal dental and vision coverage.
"Supporting the men and women of our armed services is an integral part of the culture here at LTC Partners. We have service members and veterans among our customers, our employees, our family members, and our neighbors," Forte said in his introduction. "We want to welcome Commander Weed and his crew while they are docked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. As a business based in Portsmouth, it is our privilege and honor to host them at LTC Partners and convey our gratitude for the sacrifices they make every day on our behalf."
Commissioned on October 25, 2008, at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, the USS New Hampshire returned on February 8, 2017, following a European mission, for scheduled maintenance.
Weed, who has commanded the USS New Hampshire since April 13, 2015, spoke to LTC Partners' employees about the submarine's capabilities, routines, drills, and daily activity, answering numerous questions from the audience. Since arriving in February, Weed said, he and members of his crew have found the community very welcoming and attended numerous local events, including a recent NASCAR race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in July.
After Weed spoke, Forte presented him and his crew with a plaque in appreciation of their service. In turn, Weed presented Forte with a commemorative plaque of the USS New Hampshire and thanked him and LTC Partners for the hospitality.
"A liberty mission is our most important mission," Weed said. "Because it's the one everyone can see. When we are conducting liberty, we are ambassadors to the United States."
