On Sunday, October 16, 2011, 16 Long Term Care Partners (LTCP) employees joined together as the Rack Pack for the American Cancer Society (ACS) Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® three- or five-mile walk to help create a world with less breast cancer.
The noncompetitive event, held this year at Henry Law Park in Dover, NH, brought together the community to celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate people about how to reduce their breast cancer risk or find the disease early, and raise funds. The dollars raised from the event support ACS's efforts to find cures and support programs and services for those facing the disease.
"Cancer does not go away in tough economic times," said LTCP Meeting Manager/Analyst Maureen McNally. "We are so thankful for how this community has pulled together to encourage women to make strides to end breast cancer."
This year, the Rack Pack raised $5,584, establishing the group as the number one team at the Dover event. In total, the team has raised approximately $20,000 in five years. Their fundraising efforts enable ACS to save lives by:
The Rack Pack also held an ice-cream fundraiser at LTCP on October 4, 2011, and purchased all the ingredients for the event. Many local companies donated prizes for the team to raffle. Raffle items included a free oil change from Northside Auto Repair, a $100 A La Carte gift card from Express Personnel, and an iPad 2 from Alexander Technology Group. All proceeds were donated to the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer® cause.
The 2011 Rack Pack members included Maureen McNally, Pat Baker, Claudia Brown, Sonia Craft, Jolene Dean, Amber Fogg, Maria Greene, Jay-ne LaChance, Mary Lou McGuinness, Melissa McLaughlin, Jenn Murphy, Maija Nurmikko, Jenn Potenziani, Tim Shipp, Vicki Sibernagel, and Dorothy Wilkinson.
